It’s been seven days since many Tom the turkeys came out the ovens. All the turkey you could eat and with all the fixings and pie… And well, you know what you ate (or didn’t). And what you have been picking on all week long. Some foods take up to 5 days to “clear our system” – yes, I’m talking about evacuating the exit area; you know stage left–out the old drainage pipe! Yet, during these weeks I am sure many of you, like myself, might of had friends in from out of town or spent time with family.
This can lead to stressful and emotional eating! Especially if it’s family…UGG! But since I was doing most of the cooking, I got to make semi-healthy meals. Eggplant roll-ups (it’s like eggplant parmigiana, but you slice eggplant long then roll the eggplant. Filling it with ricotta cheese, spinach.) The results can be the same:::STRESS:::!!! Well, I have news for you.
Tis the seasons for stress. Oh, while we are talking about stress: did you know? The better we digest food – even food not necessarily good for us – BUT the better our digestion system is working…the better we can handle stress, anxiety and even Depression, Bipolar and other mental labels.
While our diet is very important to our physical health, it also has a grip on our our mental health…as you can see from the following Psych Central Bloggers:
9 Tummy Tips for Better Digestion
Try the following 9 digestive tips recommended by ¹Dr. Steven Lamm:
Don’t feel alone if you experience tummy troubles. According to the American College of Gastroenterology, over 95 million Americans suffer from poor digestion.† GERD and constipation are the top two most common outpatient care diagnoses among adults, and children under age 15 experience digestive issues as frequently as adults ages 65 years and older.‡
Proof of this is seen in the multi-billion dollar digestive aid industry and on the shelves of your local pharmacy—stacked high with antacids, laxatives, fiber products, and more. The problem is endemic. Why?
The major culprit is our modern cooked diet which destroys the natural enzymes found in raw foods that aid in digestion.
